Dear Parents/Guardians:
Research shows that school uniforms support a safe and disciplined learning environment which is the first requirement of any good school. Students who are safe and secure, who learn the basic American values and the essentials of good citizenship are better students. The following are observed benefits of school uniforms in many communities that have adopted uniform policies:
- helping students concentrate on their work by removing distractions;
- instilling a sense of community;
- helping school officials recognize intruders who come to the school;
- instilling students with discipline;
- helping parents and students resist peer pressure;
- decreasing violence and theft, even life threatening situations, among students over
- designer clothing or expensive sneakers;
- helping to prevent gang members from wearing gang colors and insignias at school.
By wearing their school uniforms, students will become part of a team. It is this team effort that the HCSS hopes will help students experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging and promote academic excellence.
- Navy polo shirts ( can be purchased from the HCSS starting first week of August 15$ each)
- Properly fitting khaki pants (tan), purchased at the store of your choice
- Black or brown belt: it must be worn at all times, and it should be properly fitting
- No jeans except when given explicit permission
Footwear
- Socks: White, navy, blue or black (must be worn at all times).
- Shoes : Dark-colored lace-up shoes or loafers (closed toe, closed heel), athletic shoes
- No sandals, flip flops or mules
- All shoes should have backs or secure straps on back of shoe for safety and always remain tied.
PE Uniform
- Sweat Pants Navy
- Sweat Shirts Navy
Students not wear their gym clothes to school and are required to change prior to and after gym class.
Not permitted
- No pants, shorts, or skirts that are anatomically revealing.
- No jackets, sweatshirts, or sweaters will be worn around the waist.
- No cargo style
- No pedal pushers
